Reno - Day 1

After many delays, we finally have the keys to the cottage. Today is the first day of renovation, and the wall with the door is coming down to enlarge the kitchen. Tomorrow we will have the "after" pics so you can see our progress! 

Life in the Country

For nearly five years, my husband  and I have dreamed of having a cozy little home here in the Irish countryside where we can spend our twilight years. As an American, my idea of the perfect place is something out of a Thomas Kinkade painting - windowboxes, big trees, and flowers EVERYWHERE.

Since getting married and moving to County Cork, we've been living in a large, modern 5 bedroom house that my hubby built several years ago in the Blackwater Valley.  The lovely views and wide open spaces have certainly sparked my interest in the country life.

Beautiful, to be sure! But much too big for the two of us.  

We've recently sold that house and bought the cottage (shown below) just outside of Fermoy in Co. Cork. My goal is to document the renovation from start to finish, so stay tuned!
